FAQ

  • How long is each lesson?
30 minutes for pre-school, 40 minutes for school age children.
  • Where do your lessons take place?
Most of the pre-school classes are inside in local Church halls. For the school age children, they are either in church halls or the local school courts or tennis club.
  • How many children are in each group?
Mid-week groups have 6 children in each group with Emma at the coach. Weekend classes have a maximum of 10 kids in each group with Emma and a Junior assistant. The groups are small, to engage with the children and really get the best out of them.
  • Can my child have a free trial?
All pre-school children can have a FREE TRIAL on their first lesson. I’m afraid I don’t offer free trials to school age children.
  • Can I pay each week or do I have to sign up for a whole term?
You will need to pay upfront for the term as all venues are booked on a term by term basis. It also ensures that your child builds confidence and continuity with the same children in the group.
  • How much are the classes and how do I pay?
Pre-school classes are £9 for 30 minutes and school age classes are £10 for 40 minutes. Payable upfront at the start of the term.
  • Do I stay and get involved with the class?
No, the classes are coach-led. For pre-school classes, you are welcome to stay and watch the first few lessons, but when your child is happy to be left then we ask you to do so. Also depending on the venue, you can watch from outside the court if you wish. The last week of the term will be open to parents to watch.
  • What should my child wear and bring?
Trainers, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. Tennis rackets are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one.
  • Does my child need to have played tennis before?
No not at all. This is an introduction to tennis.
  • Will my child hit a ball over the net in every lesson?
While that would be the dream, there are a lot of fundamentals to get right before this happens. The main objective at the beginning is to develop their hand-eye coordination, ball skills and movement/tracking towards the ball which helps them to read the ball and hit it over the net.
  • Do you offer private lessons?
Yes! I run private lessons in the school holidays and summer term on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Do you run camps?
Yes! For all 5–8-year-olds in the school holidays. Contact me for more information.
  • My child is 9, how can they get involved in Tennis?
Contact Paul at Marlow Tennis Club. He runs excellent classes for Year 3 and above www.marlowtennisclub.co.uk
  • Can I get a refund on the lessons for being on holiday, re-locating or changing my mind?
Unfortunately, the term's fees are payable in advance and are non refundable. I will only refund lessons if I have a waiting list for the class and can fill the spot with another child for the remainder of the term.
